The sanctuary of S. Caterina del Sasso
This is the story of the Blessed Alberto Besozzi who had become a hermit some centuries before on the steep rock in front of us, after having escaped drowning during a storm, precisely on the water we were sailing on. He managed to swim to the shore, at the foot of that rocky wall. He had come from Intra where he had earned, spent, found women, friends and enemies.
The fierce storm opened his eyes. Enough, he must have said,” I no longer want to struggle. I’ll stay here and eat fish and salad”. In fact, he never again moved from the cave in which he had taken refuge.
